Day visit 3

COMPLETED – FESTIVE DAY VISIT TO RENISHAW HALL

On a cold day in December a group of STRADFAS members visited Renishaw Hall, the ancestral home of the Sitwell family. We were greeted enthusiastically on arrival and taken on a tour of the house which was dressed for Christmas.

The guides were knowledgeable and entertaining and we learned about some of the more eccentric members of the family. One of the highlights was the roaring log fire in the entrance hall which was much appreciated.

The tour was followed by a festive lunch complete with crackers. The gardens at the house are reputed to be magnificent and so some people are already planning a return trip in the summer. If you would like to see the current family in action you can catch them on ‘Keeping up with the Aristocrats’ on ITVX.
