About the Stratford Art Society –

Stratford Art Society is a society based in Stratford, sharing similar aims to STRADFAS, with the aim of encouraging Members of all ages to develop their skills and creativity; to provide artists with the opportunity to exhibit their work; to provide the opportunity to attend workshops and painting days and to enjoy a year’s programme of events full of interesting demonstrations and lectures and visits. The main difference between us is that the Stratford Arts Society is for practicing artists (painting, drawing, sculpture and similar).

Like STRADFAS, Stratford Art Society prides itself in being a friendly and welcoming Society. Membership is open to all ages, from amateur to professional artists.

Annual Membership runs from 1st January to 31st December. see:

The programme of events consists of:

  • Monthly Meetings with demonstrations or lectures by professional artists, are held at The Methodists Church Centre, Old Town.
  • An Annual Art Exhibition of members’ work which is usually held during the last two weeks of August. This event was established over 50 years ago and has become well known in the Art World attracting visitors from far and wide.
  • Regular visits are arranged to major Exhibitions with a coach leaving from the centre of Stratford upon Avon going to London and other cities.
  • The Annual Founders’ Lecture is held in the 2nd week of May each year at The Shakespeare Centre, Henley Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, where an eminent art specialist lectures on a specific subject.
